01Getting Started
HangTime is a calendar comparison app that finds times when you and your friends are both free — without either of you ever seeing each other's calendar details. You connect your calendar, your friends connect theirs, and HangTime shows only the windows you're both available. No event titles, no locations, no private details — ever.
HangTime supports Sign in with Google, Apple, or Microsoft. Tap the option that matches the account you'd like to use, authenticate with that provider, and you're in. No new password to create or remember.
HangTime connects with Google Calendar, Microsoft Outlook/Exchange Calendar, and Apple Calendar. If you have multiple accounts (for example, a work Google Calendar and a personal Apple Calendar), Premium subscribers can connect more than one at a time.
Yes — HangTime has a free tier that's genuinely useful. You get calendar linking, 1-on-1 and group comparisons (up to 20 people), unlimited friend connections, preset blackout windows, work schedule presets, and a 2-month calendar window. All free, forever.
Premium ($4.99/month or $39.99/year) unlocks a 24-month calendar window, up to 20 custom blackout windows, activity preferences, multiple calendar accounts, extended duration filters, and an ad-free experience.
02Calendar Linking
HangTime reads only free/busy time blocks — the simple fact that a time slot is occupied or free. That's it. HangTime never reads, stores, or transmits event titles, descriptions, locations, attendees, video call links, or any other calendar content.
No. Your friends never see anything about your calendar — not even that you're busy at a particular time. The only thing HangTime ever shows is the intersection of times when everyone in a comparison is free. If you're busy Tuesday at noon, you simply won't appear free at that time. No details cross over.
Go to Settings → Calendars in the app and tap Disconnect next to the calendar you want to remove. You can also revoke access directly in your Google, Microsoft, or Apple account settings under connected apps. Once disconnected, HangTime immediately stops reading your calendar and any cached free/busy data is cleared.
Try these steps in order:
- Pull down to refresh on the calendar comparison screen.
- Go to Settings → Calendars, disconnect the calendar, then reconnect it.
- Check that your calendar app (Google, Outlook, Apple) has synced recent events on its own.
- Sign out of HangTime and sign back in.
If the issue persists, email support@emberrosetech.com with your device model and calendar type.
03Blackout Times
Blackout times are blocks of time you declare as unavailable — even if your calendar shows you as free during those periods. For example, you might never want to meet before 9 AM on weekdays or on Sunday mornings. Blackout windows protect those times without you having to add events to your calendar.
Free users can protect evenings and mornings on both weekdays and weekends with a single tap. You can also set a work-day schedule preset (Early Bird 7–3, Standard 9–5, Late 10–6, or Half Day 9–1) to automatically block your working hours.
Premium subscribers can define up to 20 fully custom blackout windows. Each window lets you set a label (like "Gym" or "Family Time"), choose weekday vs. weekend or specific days, and pick any start and end time. Custom windows can also be date-specific — for example, blocking out a vacation week.
No. Blackout times are private. To your friends, a blacked-out time slot looks identical to a busy calendar event — they simply see that you're not available. The label and reason are never shared.
04Friends & Groups
Tap the Friends tab, then tap Add Friend and search by email address. Once you send a request and they accept, you can compare calendars. There's no cap on the number of friends you can add on any tier.
Create a group, share the join QR code with your crew, and once everyone scans it you can run an N-way comparison. HangTime finds times when every member of the group is free and shows only those shared windows. Groups support up to 20 members. The same privacy guarantee applies — nobody in the group sees anyone else's calendar details.
Yes. Tap and hold any friend in your list and choose Remove Connection, or open a group and tap Leave Group. Once removed, that person or group can no longer run comparisons with you, and any previously generated shared-window results are cleared.
05Account & Privacy
HangTime processes free/busy data in real time when comparisons are requested and does not permanently store your calendar data. We don't maintain a database of your past, present, or future calendar events. See our Privacy Policy for full details.
Go to Settings → Account → Delete Account. This permanently removes your profile, all friend connections, group memberships, and blackout settings. Calendar access is also revoked. The action is immediate and cannot be undone. If you have an active Premium subscription, cancel it first in your App Store or Google Play subscription settings to avoid being charged for the next billing period.
Subscriptions are managed through the App Store (iOS) or Google Play (Android), not through HangTime directly. To cancel:
- iOS: Settings → [Your name] → Subscriptions → HangTime → Cancel.
- Android: Google Play → Profile icon → Payments & Subscriptions → Subscriptions → HangTime → Cancel.
Your Premium access continues until the end of the current billing period.
